Recruitment of BUT and ATS Students for the DER SIEN Program

The Department of Electrical and Digital Engineering Sciences (formerly N. Tesla / EEA) recruits students from ATS preparatory classes as well as BUT GEII and Physical Measurements programs through competitive exams and application reviews.  

Admitted students enter the first year of the program (L3 SAPHIRE). Those admitted through competitive exams become “normaliens élèves” (with the status of a trainee civil servant earning €1,500/month, subject to a ten-year commitment), while those admitted based on application materials become “normaliens étudiants” (with a scholarship of €600/month).  The goal of the ENS is to train teachers, teacher-researchers, and researchers for academic or industrial settings at the highest scientific and technical level.

To help candidates learn more and prepare for this ENS competitive exam, a webinar was held on Thursday, February 12, 2026 to present the program as well as the exam, its format, and the material covered.
